Megan is originally from Scotland and has spent the last 11 years in Abu Dhabi supporting school improvement. Her journey in teaching and educational leadership spans Kindergarten through Grade 12, within public and private sectors. She has experience of the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, ADEC’s New School Model, American Common Core Curriculum, High Scope’s Early Years Approach, and the International Baccalaureate Framework. Her core value as an educator and leader is to support others in identifying their strengths and inspiring their continued growth.
Megan graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelor of Education (Hons). Her chosen specialist subject was additional support needs due to her commitment to learning for all children. Megan’s dissertation was focused on Forest Schools as an area of interest in innovative and holistic, child-centered approaches to learning. She taught within a highly reputable education council in Scotland prior to moving to the UAE.
Megan progressed as a grade level leader, head of department, assistant head of school, and head of school. She completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Management, conducting an action research project for her dissertation. As her passion lies in developmentally appropriate, research-based practices, the study was a comparison of play-based learning in early years between the UK and the UAE.
As founding principal of Al Forsan KG within the Charter Schools project, Megan is committed to an ethos of excellence and she is excited to engage the school community in developing a shared vision for the children’s academic growth and holistic development.
